GameAccount hires Harris Hagan lawyer for in-house role
Tom Grant leaves gaming and licensing law firm to take up head of legal position at games supplier

GameAccount Network has appointed Harris Hagan partner Tom Grant (pictured) to the position of head of legal with immediate effect as part of the B2B software supplier’s plans to expand its global reach.
Gaming and commercial lawyer Grant, who trained with law firm Nabarro, joined Harris Hagan in 2012 following seven years as senior in-house counsel with The Rank Group.
He joins GameAccount after having represented the London-listed company on a number of recent occasions and impressed CEO Dermot Smurfit, who described the hire as a “positive step” in its expansion strategy.
“Tom has directly advised GameAccount on a number of matters in the past and combines an in-depth knowledge of the online gaming legislative landscape globally and familiarity with the GameAccount business, its culture and its people,” Smurfit said.
In confirming his departure, Julian Harris, partner and co-founder of Harris Hagan, described Grant as “an excellent commercial lawyer” and wished him “every success” in his new role.
“We look forward to a continuing relationship in his new role as head of legal at GameAccount, a longstanding client of the firm,” he added.
GameAccount has been focused on expanding the reach of its Simulated Gaming product, which enables land-based casinos to offer an online alternative to real-money gaming.
The firm has a number of US deals in place with the like of Betfair, Trump Plaza and Foxwoods Interactive while it recently struck an agreement with a number of Australia-based community clubs.
Last year the firm raised a total of £22.2m following an oversubscribed placement of shares ahead of its debut listing on London’s Alternative Investment Market.
