Gamesys debut poker platform nears completion
US partner Tropicana reveals it will be first to go live with Gamesys debut online poker product in early 2014

UK operator Gamesys is set to launch its first online poker platform in early 2014, according to its US casino partner Tropicana Casino and Resort.
The partnership between Gamesys and Tropicana is preparing to launch with slots and casino in New Jersey when online gaming is due to go live on 26 November, have also teamed up to release an online poker product which Tropicana CEO Tony Rodio expects to take place in “early 2014″.
Rodio also told eGaming Review the poker platform would be targeted towards the more casual player.
“Our poker platform will be from Gamesys, but that will not be ready right at launch but it will be opening in early 2014. We will be the first to launch the Gamesys poker platform in the US,” Rodio said.
“We are trying to create our own little niche with the Gamesys poker product,” He added. “More for the casual customer and not hardcore serious poker players, which is the way we are going to try and position it.”
In May, eGR reported that Gamesys had opened a Canada-based subsidiary to aid with the development of the poker platform.
The operator is also thought to be developing a free-to-play social product to be launched alongside the real-money variant under its recently acquired Virgin Games brand.
The operator purchased Virgin Games for an undisclosed sum in January this year and quickly removed all content from the likes of Microgaming, Net Entertainment, Cryptologic and Playtech, leaving 24 games provided by IGT as well as 24 of Gamesys’ proprietary titles.
