Genius Sports recruits new CTO from Betsson
Technology and product strategist Peter Frey to oversee integration of data supplier’s FanHub and Second Spectrum acquisitions

Genius Sports has hired former Betsson Group joint chief technology and product officer Peter Frey as its new CTO.
EGR exclusively revealed the details of Frey’s departure from Betsson in June and his next career move has seen him land at the New York-listed data supplier.
He will join Genius Sports later in July and will be based in the company’s London office.
He will report into Genius Sports chief information officer Campbell Stephenson, who has been with the business for 12 years.
In his new position, Frey will oversee technological operations in all global locations across its entire product set for sports, betting and media.
He has been tasked with pushing Genius to the forefront of the converging sports data, streaming, betting and advertising industries.
Frey’s immediate focus will be on fully integrating and maximising synergies with the supplier’s recent acquisitions, including Second Spectrum and FanHub.
A seasoned technology and digital strategy expert, Frey’s first gambling industry role was at Betsson.
He joined the sector in May 2019 from Bonnier Group, Scandinavia’s largest media publishing group, where he served as chief technical officer and product officer for two years.
