Golden Palace eyes World Cup with new sportsbook
Belgian operator contracts BetConstruct as competition in the country intensifies
Belgian operator Golden Palace Group has launched a new sports betting product in preparation for this summer’s FIFA World Cup as competition in the country intensifies.
Golden Palace was the first operator to be granted a Class B+ gaming licence by Belgian authorities when the market regulated in April 2012, however competition is expected to increase in the coming months with other established operators keen to enter the market.
Ladbrokes reshuffled its European management team at the start of this year ahead of an online launch into Belgium, appointing Alexis Murphy as the new director of the firm’s Belgium-facing business with Ian Catchick stepping in as digital director for Belgium.
The UK-based bookmaker has had a land-based presence in the country having acquired Le Tiercé SA in 1984.
Meanwhile Kroon Casino could also be set to introduce sports betting to its portfolio following its acquisition by the Betsson Group earlier this month.
Golden Palace has contracted BetConstruct to supply its online and mobile sportsbook platform adding a new sportsbetting platform to its portfolio of casino and poker products on the Goldenpalace.be domain.
Frédéric François, marketing and business manager at Goldenpalace.be, said BetConstruct had been selected due to its strong sportsbook and focus on in-play betting.
“With only five months to go before the start of the Brazil World Cup Goldenpalace.be is now equipped to deal with its football-mad betting public,” François said.
