Google prohibits sports betting ads in Florida
The decision was taken in the wake of Washington DC making sports betting illegal in Florida

Tech giant Google has announced that it will no longer promote gambling ads and services through its Ads platform.
The decision was made after a Washington DC federal court invalidated the Florida-Seminole Tribal Gaming Compact and made sports betting illegal in Florida.
“In November 2021, the Google Ads Gambling and games policy United States country-specific will be updated to disallow sports betting in Florida,” the Google Ads statement read.
The San Francisco-headquartered tech giant further stated that it will enforce the new policy from 24 November 2021.
US District Court Judge Dabney Friedrich on Monday ordered the “vacation” of the highly controversial compact signed by the state and the tribe in August on the grounds it violated the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA).
It followed a lawsuit launched by two Florida-based parimutuel operators which challenged the compact’s legality, citing non-compliance with IGRA, the Wire Act and the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act.
