Greentube imposed with £685,000 fine for social responsibility and AML failures
Channel Island-based subsidiary will also undergo extensive independent auditing for the failures between December 2019 and November 2020
The UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) has imposed a fine of £685,000 on Greentube Alderney after an investigation revealed social responsibility and money laundering failures.
The findings of the UKGC investigation revealed that the Channel Island subsidiary of the Austria-based operator, Greentube, had failed to interact with customers in a way that minimised the risk of customers experiencing gambling harms.
The regulator also noticed that Greentube Alderney did not conduct adequate assessments to protect against risks of money laundering.
Novomatic, for whom Greentube are the interactive division, also failed to have in place and implement appropriate policies, procedures and controls to prevent money laundering.
Helen Venn, UKGC executive director, said: “Compliance with Commission rules aimed at keeping people safe and gambling crime free is not optional.
“We will always take firm action against those operators who fail to meet the high standards we expect for consumers in Britain,” Venn added.
Meanwhile, Greentube Alderney – which operates admiralcasino.co.uk and bellfruitcasino.com will also undergo extensive independent auditing for the failures which occurred between December 2019 and November 2020.
Greentube will also pay an additional £8,789.86 towards the Commission’s costs of investigating the case.
