GVC launches women in tech programme to attract new talent
Initiative to highlight the obstacles faced by women working in tech internally and in the wider industry

GVC has launched a women in tech initiative to attract new talent to the firm and highlight what it’s like to be a woman working in a tech role within the company and the wider industry.
The programme stems from a focus on CSR implemented at a board level last year with the introduction of vice chair of Global Gaming Women, Virginia McDowell, to the board.
Speaking to EGR, HR director for tech and product at GVC’s Gibraltar office, Cecilia McNaughton, said the operator had a high ratio of females to males in its Hyderabad, India hub.
She said the firm wanted to learn from this culture and bring it to GVC’s other tech hubs.
As part of the programme GVC is set to launch a series of “listening rooms” to entice employees to share their experiences and highlight what it’s like to work for the firm as a woman.
“One key thing is to attract and retain the best talent, whether they are male or female is irrelevant but we see that in the industry it is more males that come to work for us,” McNaughton said.
STEM inspirational speaker Anne Marie Imafidon was invited to speak about the stigma surrounding male dominance in tech roles at the operator’s Vienna office to kick off the initiative.
GVC COO Shay Sagev said: “In general, GVC seeks to employ the best people regardless of their gender. We want to make sure we give everybody an equal opportunity to succeed.”
