IGT to launch American Idol slot on Facebook
Slot launch is technology provider's first social release since Double Down acquisition.

IGT will soon premiere its American Idol slot on Facebook, which has been in development since before discussions with Double Down Interactive began.
The game will see players able to spin a wheel which has the faces of the contestants and host on it. It will be free-to-play but with the option to purchase additional game credits, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
The launch comes soon after IGT’s US$500m acquisition of Double Down Interactive, and the game is set to launch on Double Down’s Facebook casino, which has 5.8m monthly active users according to AppData.
IGT chief technology officer Chris Satchell stated: “Facebook is almost the same business [as casinos]. If we could just get [the younger generation] to understand that it’s fun. Social gaming is a good way to do that, and it’s a good business in its own right.”
