Interwetten named as Lotus F1 sponsor
Branding of Malta-licensed operator debuted on team cars at yesterday's Spanish Grand Prix.

Malta-licensed operator Interwetten has agreed a deal to sponsor the Lotus Formula 1 racing team, building on its existing partnerships with football teams in Spain and Italy.
Interwetten’s branding featured on Lotus cars for the first time in yesterday’s Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona, where the team’s drivers Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean finished third and fourth respectively. It joins a number of other partners including security software company Symantec.
The operator is one of more than 50 to have applied for a licence in the Spanish egaming market, where Enrique Alejo, general director of the Spanish General Directorate for the Regulation of Gambling (DGOJ), revealed last week that licences will be issued on 1 June.
Birgit Bosch, managing director of Interwetten, said: “We are naturally delighted that a successful team like Lotus has taken us on board in the premier class of motorsport, and we are confident that together we will celebrate many successes.”
Interwetten already has betting partnerships in place with Spanish football club Sevilla and several teams in Italy’s Serie A, including Champions League qualifiers Udinese.
It is not the first egaming operator to have signed an F1 sponsorship deal, with Full Tilt Poker agreeing a deal to sponsor the Virgin Racing team in 2010 in advance of that year’s Spanish Grand Prix.
