Intralot to launch online casino in Italy with NetEnt; pledges expansion

INTRALOT egaming subsidiary Intralot Interactive is to launch casino games in Italy with Net Entertainment (NetEnt) and has pledged to seek further opportunities with NetEnt in other territories.

The company, which focuses on providing technology to lotteries and state organisations, will launch casino games in Italy subject to the forthcoming opening of the egaming market there and approval by Italian authorities, which are both expected to take place during the second half of this year.

The agreement provides for the integration of NetEnt’s CasinoModule product suite with the Intralot Interactive Gaming Platform, and for NetEnt’s CasinoCafe product suite to be offered through Intralot’s Italian retail network subject to the provisions of the law.

Intralot general director George Zenzefilis said: “Through this partnership Intralot will be among the first to offer online casino games in Italy after the upcoming liberalisation of the market.

“This partnership will further allow the expansion of our product portfolio, in a fully integrated manner”¦ We believe that online casino in Italy will be a very lucrative market with high potential”.

Intralot is NetEnt’s third major client in Italy after Bwin-owned Italian poker giant Gioco Digitale signed up for NetEnt’s CasinoModule to both Gioco’s own site and Bwin’s Italian site, Bwin.It in March, and Microgame signed for the product in October 2009.

Other operators to sign up for the CasinoModule suite in recent months include Betsson in April and Bertil in March.
