
Italian online sports betting revenues up 27.8%
Online betting revenues up to €50m in August as bet365 continued its market dominance


Italy’s online sports betting market enjoyed double-digit growth in August, with revenues rising by 27.8% year-on-year and topping €50m.
Figures published by Italian gaming website Agimeg revealed combined retail and online sports betting revenues hit €111.4m, up 34.4% year-on-year, down slightly from the €114.3m recorded during July.
Bet365 continued its domination of the sports betting market by claiming a 17.1% market share. The operator narrowly beat SKS365 which had a 14.90% share in August and Snaitech, which accounted for a 10.5% share of the entire Italian market.
Overall online betting revenues have risen by 41.5% during the eight months of 2018, with totals exceeding €411.4m.
Online casino revenues were up 26% year-on-year during August, rising to €56.5m. PokerStars led the market share figures for the month with a 9.7% share of the Italian market while Lottomatica came a close second with a 8.9% share.
Overall online casino revenues for the year to date have increased by over €100m year-on-year to an August total of €458.8m. However, revenues from online poker declined by 6.9% year-on-year in August, falling to €4.8m, with PokerStars claiming a lion’s share of the online poker market with 64.85%.
