Australian internet lottery firm to sell online lottery products in expanding German market

Online lottery company Jumbo Interactive is set to sell internet lottery tickets across Germany after securing 16 state licenses for a period of five years.
The Australian firm’s German subsidiary, Jumbo Interactive GmbH, is permitted to operate online and via mobile across all German states and hopes to release its website before the end of the year.
Jumbo still needs to obtain 13 more operational agreements with state operators to complete its European expansion move having already reach agreements with Schleswig-Holstein, Baden Weurttemberg and Berlin.
Jumbo, which earns a commission on tickets sold by state lottery operators, will be permitted to sell lottery games including the EuroJackpot, Lotto 6 from 49, Keno, Plus 5, Super 6, Spiel 77 and GlücksSpirale to an estimated 68 million eligible players.
CEO Mike Veverka said Jumbo Interactive is “in a good position as the German internet lottery market opens up”, which it says is estimated to reach a A$2bn market size within five years.
Newly appointed country manager and managing director for Germany, Gerhard Sparrer, added he believed Jumbo has the experience and software platform to grow quickly within the online lottery sector.
Jumbo’s move into the German market follows recent expansions into the North American and Latin American lottery markets.
