Kambi nets Ontario license approval
Sportsbook technology supplier hails “landmark achievement” ahead of formal launch on April 4

Kambi Group has received regulatory approval from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO), ahead of the launch of the Ontario regulated market on April 4.
The approval confirms Kambi’s status as a gaming-related supplier in the province, which has a population of 15 million.
Under current Ontario licensing standards, operators must pay an application fee of C$100,000 (£58,000) per site, as well as an annual fee of C$100,000.
Supplier fees are much cheaper and start at C$3,000 for a gaming equipment provider, rising to C$15,000 per annum for a manufacturer of gaming equipment.
Prior to offering its sportsbook technology to Ontario-licensed operators, Kambi must satisfy all remaining regulatory requirements and execute an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario, AGCO’s regulated igaming operator.
iGaming Ontario was set up by AGCO to “conduct and manage” igaming within the province, and companies operate gaming sites in the market on behalf of the province in accordance with these agreements.
Kambi is a member of the Canadian Gaming Association, having joined the trade body in March 2021. Last month, Kambi partnered with NorthStar Gaming, which plans to launch in Ontario under the NorthStar Bets sportsbook brand.
Other Kambi-powered sportsbooks with licenses in Ontario include Kindred, LeoVegas, Rush Street Interactive and 888.
Kambi joins eight other suppliers in obtaining Ontario licenses, these include Sportradar, Pala Interactive, Norvantes Limited and integrity bodies the International Betting Integrity Association and US Integrity.
Kambi CEO and co-founder Kristian Nylén welcomed the registration as a gaming-related supplier in the province.
“This landmark achievement is a testament to Kambi’s expertise and exemplary track record in compliance, and we are excited to be in a position to deliver our market-leading sportsbook technology to our partners’ customers in Ontario from day one,” Nylén added.
