KSA hits out at two operators for advertising mishaps
Dutch regulator clamps down on loyalty programme offerings in latest action against operators

The Netherlands Gambling Authority (KSA) has warned two operators for offering loyalty programmes to young adults.
The regulator deems the offering of loyalty schemes to be advertising activity, and is therefore not allowed in the market due to regulation around marketing to young adults.
The KSA established that the two operators each offered a loyalty programme, with the schemes open to young adults aged between 18 and 24.
It noted that while the schemes did not pay out on a saved balance, they did allow customers to save, which it judged to be a marketing activity.
The regulator confirmed that one of the operators complied immediately with the warning and pulled the scheme.
However, the other unnamed operator had to be prompted with the threat of regulatory action before removing the programme from its offering.
The watchdog said: “The KSA keeps a close eye on the fact that providers do not target advertising activities, such as loyalty programmes, at young adults.
“If providers do so anyway, they risk enforcement action by the KSA.”
