Ladbrokes football chief quits for BoyleSports trading role
David Burgin leaves the Magic Sign after 25 years' service to take up senior trading position with Irish bookmaker

Ladbrokes head of football David Burgin has quit the firm in order to take up a senior trading position at Irish bookmaker Boylesports, eGaming Review has learned.
Long-serving Burgin, who joined Ladbrokes approximately 25 years ago, left the firm earlier this month and is expected to relocate to BoyleSports’ Dundalk headquarters.
His departure comes just weeks after a small number of Ladbrokes’ traders left the firm having decided to take a voluntary redundancy package, including head of greyhounds Richard Harkness.
However, eGR understands Burgin’s exit was unrelated to the recent redundancy process and he had notified the firm of his plans to leave for BoyleSports during the summer.
And with a potential merger with Gala Coral on the horizon, it is also understood Ladbrokes has no plans to recruit externally for a like-for-like replacement for Burgin.
“We’d like to thank David for his work at Ladbrokes over the past 25 years,” a Ladbrokes spokesperson told eGR this morning. “We all wish him well as he takes up a new challenge within the industry.”
Although BoyleSports confirmed the hire of Burgin, the operator was unable to provide any detail regarding his job title or start date at the time of publication.
However, BoyleSports is understood to be in the process of making changes at the top of its trading team following the departure of head of trading Jonathan Wright earlier this year.
