LeoVegas CEO: We’ll be number one on mobile in Ireland
Gustaf Hagman believes the operator’s mobile sportsbook product will dominate the Irish sports betting market

LeoVegas will surge to the top of Ireland’s mobile sports betting market following its Irish debut last month, the operator’s CEO Gustaf Hagman has said.
Speaking to EGR Intel, Hagman revealed the firm’s Irish revenues were “growing very fast” and claimed its strengths in mobile would help it stand out against larger competitors.
“I know Paddy Power will say that they have [the top position] and Kindred will also say that but they’ve been there for years and we’re the new kid on the block,” Hagman said.
“We think there is fairly low competition due to the fact that we have a really good product with a competitive edge.”
Hagman also said the firm had been “digging deeper” into the benefits of the Kambi sportsbook platform. He added: “We do this in order to differentiate ourselves from peers in terms of customer experience.
“The product, the marketing and the mobile machinery is core to Leo Vegas. We’ve been working for five years on having the best user experience and to be number one in mobile gaming.”
The firm’s sportsbook arm recently expanded into new marketing channels and had begun to cross-sell customers between its casino and sportsbook products.
Following the acquisition of Italy-facing Winga.it brand in February, LeoVegas also plans to dominate the Italian mobile market, which Hagman claimed was still in its infancy.
He said: “They still play a lot on gaming machines and we believe there is a product shift in process. What we could see here is a shift directly from offline to mobile instead of moving onto desktop.”
The firm is now looking towards penetrating markets in Latin America, Portugal and Spain. It currently has licences in Malta, Italy the UK, Denmark and Ireland.
