LeoVegas goes live in Spain
Operator launches LeoVegas.es less than two weeks after securing its licence

LeoVegas has gone live in Spain with LeoVegas.es, less than two weeks after securing its licence.
The operator said it aimed to position itself as the mobile-first option in the market, as it moved from offline to online.
Today, only 13% of all games in Spain are online, compared to 50% in Sweden,” said Hans Uhrus, communications director at LeoVegas.
“We think this is very interesting and in line with our growth ambitions.”
As part of the operator’s development of the .es site it has also launched Spanish language products in Southern American countries including Chile and Peru.
“We are very happy to offer games in Spain just two weeks after we received our license,” added Uhrus.
“It shows strength, commitment and speed within LeoVegas and that our experience from regulated markets is a competitive advantage.”
The operator has licences to operate roulette, blackjack, online slots and fixed-odds betting on sporting events.
Spanish gross gaming revenues rose by 20% year-on-year during the first quarter of 2019, according to Spanish regulator (DGOJ), with first quarter revenues hitting €193.3m (£171.4m).
Revenues from sports betting rose by 11.5% YoU to €100.8m, while online casino accounted for 35% of total GGR generated during the period.
Betfred, Casumo and GIG are all planning to launch in Spain in the coming weeks after securing licences, while Kindred recently withdrew its licence application to focus on Sweden and the US.
