LeoVegas plots Danish sports betting launch
Operator plans to launch Kambi-powered sportsbook following recent online casino debut in Denmark

LeoVegas has set its sights on launching a Kambi-powered sportsbook in Denmark after flicking the switch this week on its online casino in the market.
The operator secured a gaming licence to operate in the Danish market back in October, with the intention to focus on the firm’s mobile strengths through its “technology and mobile-first approach”.
Speaking to EGR Intel, LeoVegas Group CEO and co-founder Gustaf Hagman said it will soon be offering its sportsbook to Danish customers.
“At this stage we have the licence for casino and the first step and focus is the casino, but sports is next in line,” Hagman said.
Hagman added the firm will lean on the experience it has gained in other regulated markets it operates in, including the UK and Malta.
“Denmark is a regulated market and we have a lot of knowledge and know how of how to operate in a regulated market since the UK is one of our core markets,” he said.
“It also means that we can use Google, Facebook and app store which is a huge benefit compared to unregulated markets.”
LeoVegas returned to profit in Q3 after recording a 76% year-on-year increase in revenues and an improved marketing-to-revenue ratio during the quarter.
Denmark’s online gaming market is estimated to be worth DKK 4.6bn in 2016, according to H2 Gaming Capital.
