Lottoland Australia wins jackpot betting Supreme Court case
New South Wales judge sides with the lottery disruptor over legal dispute with Australian communications regulator

Lottoland Australia is now free to offer jackpot betting products in the country after winning a Supreme Court case against the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA).
In June, ACMA designated Lottoland’s jackpot betting service in breach of Australia’s Interactive Gambling Act, because it was too similar to lottery betting, which was banned last year.
Lottoland had launched the new jackpot product following the ban on traditional lottery betting products. The product uses numbers from the financial markets as the basis of draws.
However that product was banned by the ACMA, with Lottoland now successfully appealing the decision.

Lottoland Australia CEO Luke Brill said: “The Supreme Court of NSW has today confirmed that Lottoland Australia’s jackpot betting products are fully compliant with Australian law.
“Lottoland Australia has always maintained that ACMA’s view of our jackpot betting products is wrong, unfair, and uncompetitive—and today I am pleased to say that we have been vindicated.
“With this matter now settled, Lottoland Australia can finally get on with what it does best – providing new and exciting products that Australian punters love,” he added.
