Malta Gaming Authority’s general counsel departs
Dr Yanica Sant will continue to serve regulator until February 2022 but won’t be involved in regulatory, inspectorate or enforcement duties

The general counsel of Malta Gaming Authority (MGA), Dr Yanica Sant, has stepped down from her position in order to pursue a career in the private sector.
While she will continue to serve MGA until February 2022, Sant will not be performing any regulatory, inspectorate or enforcement duties. Meanwhile, she will no longer be part of any internal committees.
MGA thanked Yanica for her contributions in the last seven-and-a-half years and her contributions at all levels of the regulator’s hierarchy and to most high-level projects over that time, “including the drafting of the regulatory framework, which was published in 2018”.
Sant joined MGA in 2014 as a legal department intern before stepping up to the position of legal advisor in 2016 following which she was promoted to senior legal counsel and data protection officer (DPO) in 2017.
From November 2019, she served as the head of EU affairs and policy and DPO until February 2021 when she was appointed as general counsel.
MGA is yet to announce Sant’s replacement.
