SPAIN continues to edge closer to draft rules regulating online gaming, three years after these were first announced.
The Sectorial Gaming Commission, a grouping of the gaming authorities of the country’s 17 autonomous regions and its two federal gaming authorities, the State Lotteries Monopoly and National Gaming Board, met in January to discuss the draft.
Tax provisions look set to define its fate, with regional regulators likely to veto national laws in favour of local regulation if the scheme does not give them a large enough tax share.
