
Michael Owen to lead The Pools' new affiliates promotion campaign
Prediction game enters its 100th year by offering 10,000 free games to new and old customers

The Pools and Michael Owen have launched an advertising campaign to celebrate the prediction game’s 100th season.
In order to celebrate what The Pools is calling “it’s best season ever” the company is giving away 10,000 free games to lucky punters ahead of the start of the 2022-23 Premier League season.
Owen will be the face of the new season Classic Pools 10,000 free game giveaway.
Affiliates will be able to use a selection of special assets to promote the campaign and push new players to The Pools.
Former Liverpool star Owen was unveiled in March as a quarter of the revamped “Pools panel” alongside newcomers Derek Johnston and former England keeper Rachel Finnis-Brown who joined 1966 World Cup winner Ian Callaghan.
Speaking about the new campaign, Owen said: “The Football Pools is an institution in this country that generations have grown up with.
“It’s an incredible achievement to be reaching its 100th birthday and by giving away these 10,000 games, hopefully it will be an opportunity for lots of people to play for free and make it a really memorable one.”
Derek Lloyd, CEO of The Football Pools and The Pools, said: “The 10,000 free game giveaway was a way to share the anniversary with players who have been loyal over the years.
The game, which requires players to predict which games will end in score-draws, costs £1 per line with a jackpot of £3m.
Partnership marketing manager at The Pools Andrea Foley, who recently sat down with EGR, added: “We know that promotions are part of new player sign ups and we want our affiliate partners to be able to use the offers responsibly to engage their audiences and introduce them to The Pools.”
