Microgame to launch Italian exchange with Betdaq operator
Partnership signed ahead of passage of exchange betting legislation this year.

People’s Network operator Microgame has partnered with Betdaq operator Global Betting Exchange (GBE) in preparation for the opening of the Italian exchange betting market.
A ministerial decree was introduced in the EU member state in January, with AAMS head of remote gaming Francesco Rodano explaining at the time that it could come into law this year following a necessary standstill period.
Under the terms of the deal GBE will provide exchange technology for Microgame, and the new product will become known as ‘the People’s IBEX’. Microgame explained in a statement that the People’s IBEX will be “Seamlessly integrated with and complementary to its existing offerings”.
Microgame CEO Fabrizio d’Aloia (pictured) said: “It is important to underline that People’s Ibex does not have to be considered as a competitor for the traditional Italian bookmakers, but on the contrary as a great alternative for themselves to diversify their business.”
He added that “Our expectations are very high, thinking both at the technological developments and at the business opportunities that it will bring to our gaming operators and their customers.”
Last year saw Microgame sign a casino games agreement with Chartwell Games, now an Amaya subsidiary, while in December 2010 the company signed a deal with Caesars Interactive Entertainment to promote the World Series of Poker brand in Italy.
