Microgaming taps into esports trend with Unikrn agreement
Isle of Man-based supplier strikes content aggregation deal with Rahul Sood’s esports betting firm

Microgaming has teamed up with esports betting and entertainment media company Unikrn.
The collaboration will allow Microgaming to provide Unikrn’s esports betting product to its customer base, which includes more than 800 global gaming brands worldwide.
The Isle of Man-based supplier’s content aggregation platform will now feature Unikrn Virtual, which provides a system for betting on mainstream games, including CS:GO, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, Rocket League and Call of Duty War Zone.
Microgaming commercial director Leon Thomas said: “Microgaming has a rich history of product innovation and development, and we are constantly exploring new avenues to deliver unique content that raises the bar of entertainment.
“Unikrn has a strong reputation for delivering innovative esports gaming experiences that capture the attention of players around the world, and we firmly believe the addition of their esports product will allow us to bring something special to the market.”
Unikrn Virtual is a collection of professional esports matches and content created and played by some of the best competitors in competitive gaming history, including Justin Wong.
Unikrn co-founder Rahul Sood said: “When I left my position as CEO of Microsoft Ventures, it was to create something unprecedented.
“Unikrn Virtual is a never-ending well of exclusive content that will change the betting landscape. With our Microgaming partnership, I’m excited to access Microgaming’s network and global reach.”
Gambling Commission data collected during the lockdown months of Covid-19 suggests esports has enjoyed greater staying power than other “niche” betting verticals.
