Mindway AI to tackle impulsive gambling with Gamechanger product
New service targets increased awareness of player impulsivity in gambling

Gambling-related harm treatment firm Mindway AI has announced the launch of a new treatment method which aims to target impulsive gambling by increasing awareness amongst players.
The new Gamechanger service is intended for use by at-risk or problem gamblers, or any individual who wishes to better understand their online gambling.
The tool works by having individual players touch their respective screens when non-gambling related images as fast as possible, while avoiding touching the screen when gambling related images appear.
Mindway AI founder Professor Kim Mouridsen said he felt there has been a lot of focus on identifying at-risk and problem gamblers, but the same attention had not been paid to increasing awareness amongst players.
Gamechanger aims to train players in so-called ‘inhibition control’, a cognitive process which allows individuals to inhibit their dominant behavioural responses in order to adopt more normal behaviour.
In gambling, increased use of this inhibition control enables at-risk players to manage their gambling, becoming at less risk of gambling-related harm.
“Applying training tools like Gamechanger has shown good results within other kinds of addiction. It’s all about cultivating self-control and getting back to a controlled approach to gambling,” Mouridsen added.
Earlier this year, Mindway AI launched its first self-assessment game to enable players to greater understand their gambling using a card game.
Players are encouraged to click one card from a series of four, with this card giving a player a score which rose or fell based on the card being chosen.
