Mobile boosts Betclic.fr sports revenues
Turnover from Betclic Everest Group's France-facing site increases 24% as mobile also records significant turnover rise

Betclic Everest Group reported a 24% year-on-year increase in sports betting turnover from its dot.fr website for Q1 2014 after a strong mobile performance and significant increase in football stakes.
The Betclic.fr mobile business enjoyed significant growth during the quarter following a 70% year-on-year increase in turnover, with nearly two-thirds of the operator’s customer base now betting via the channel, according to Q1 figures released by the operator.
Betclic.fr also saw a 12% increase in sports bettors compared to the same period last year, with 150,000 active players in the quarter.
“These results are very encouraging in this major World Cup year and come to reward the actions undertaken by the group,” Marc Guigo, Betclic Everest Group managing director of France, said.
“We are a robust leader with a 35% market share and we aim to contribute to the dynamism of the French online sports betting market,” he added. “We look to bring to our customers the widest number of markets accompanied with an innovative mobile offering.”
The operator did not reveal its Q1 EBITDA or operating profit.
The French sports betting market overall performed well last quarter recording a 22% year-on-year increase in turnover which the French regulator ARJEL attributed to the renewed attractiveness of the French football leagues.
In Q1 Betclic.fr saw the number of French Ligue 1 bettors increase 27% year-on-year, while Ligue 2 bettors also increased 19% and turnover 26%.
The latest figures from the operator follow an impressive year-on-year increase in EBITDA from its bet-at-home subsidiary, rising from 13.2m the previous year to 15m for the 12 months ended 31 December 2013.
