Gildas Tanguy hired as Belgium digital director to replace Ian Catchick who takes up Ireland brief

Ladbrokes has appointed former Unibet France country manager Gildas Tanguy as its first permanent digital director for Belgium, eGaming Review has learned.
Tanguy, who previously held roles with PokerStars, Betclic and Eurosportbet, started his new Brussels-based position earlier this month where he is reporting into Ladbrokes Belgium managing director Alexis Murphy.
The appointment of Tanguy has freed-up Ladbrokes international digital director Ian Catchick, who had been simultaneously carrying out an interim digital director role in Belgium since launching the business last May.
Catchick, who previously helped launch Ladbrokes’ Spain-facing venture Sportium.es, will now direct much of his attention to the company’s struggling Ireland business, a territory which is currently under review following a period of underperformance.
Last month the firm revealed it had restructured its Betdaq and Ireland management teams in a move which saw the divisions moved under the remit of the digital team and led to Betdaq managing director Lewis Findlay leaving the firm.
Speaking to eGR this morning, a spokeperson for Ladbrokes confirmed the appointment of Tanguy and that Catchick would be “focusing more of his time on our other regulated digital markets, notably Ireland”.
The news comes just days after Ladbrokes announced current digital director Jim Mullen would replace Richard Glynn as chief executive on 1 April.
