Mr Green to launch online esports community
Operator has partnered with Gamingzone Entertainment to establish a new brand that will focus on esports news and “gaming opportunities”

Mr Green is plotting the launch of an online esports community as part of a partnership with entertainment company Gamingzone Entertainment.
The joint venture will offer users news, entertainment and “gaming opportunities” and will fall under an entirely new Mr Green brand that has yet to be named.
The operator owns 55% of the venture and has appointed Gamingzone Entertainment founder, Karl Mikael Cakste, as CEO.
Mr Green CEO, Per Norman, said the company wanted to be part of the development of esports in its infancy, believes the industry could grow to be as big as traditional sports.
“We want to be part of this development and create a presence among all its fans,” said Norman. “In Gamingzone, we have found a partner who understands esports, content and entertainment.”
Gamingzone Entertainment was founded in 2017 by former executives of Swedish media companies MTG and TV4.
Cakste said: “We are convinced that there are interesting and entertaining ways of offering the fans something better than what we have seen so far.”
The new brand is set to launch in Q3 2018.
In April, Mr Green posted Q1 revenue growth of 38% to SEK 381m (£31.8m), driven by organic growth of 25.2%.
