National Lottery lands Rugby League sponsorship
Partnership aims to support women’s code following decimation of domestic season due to Covid-19

The UK National Lottery has struck an agreement to become an official sponsorship partner of the Rugby Football League (RFL), with an emphasis on women’s rugby. National Lottery branding will appear across both men and women’s rugby, as well as there being opportunities for National Lottery players to win match tickets to both domestic and international fixtures. The Camelot-operated lottery brand will also be the title partner for England Women’s mid-season international fixture against Wales on 25 June. Women’s rugby league was decimated by Covid-19 in 2020, with almost the entire campaign lost to the pandemic. With this investment into the RFL, the National Lottery has now handed more than £150m to grassroots sports in the UK. Nigel Railton, Camelot CEO, said: “Supporting sports has always been part of the mission of The National Lottery and this inventive partnership will undoubtedly make a difference. “The loss of spectators and cancellation of events has had such an impact, so I am proud that National Lottery players are able to support Rugby League after a difficult year,” he added.
