Nektan signs US-facing mobile JV
Mobile game supplier links up with online and land-based slots developer Spin Games following its listing on London's AIM last month
Mobile gaming supplier Nektan has formed a joint venture with online and land-based slots developer Spin Games to bring in-venue mobile gaming to the US market.
The 50/50 joint venture enables land-based operators to introduce new game content that can be played on both slot machines and mobile devices in-venue.
Nektan said it already had deals in place with three land-based operators in California and Nevada.
“We are delighted to be forming a joint venture with Nektan and feel our combined technology and expertise will allow us to exploit the opportunities in the North America gaming market,” Kent Young, CEO of Spin Games, said.
Nektan, which opened its US headquarters in Las Vegas in January, said the joint venture would allow it to enter the “key” US market without having to rely on state-by-state online gaming regulation.
The announcement comes just over a month after Nektan launched an initial public offering on London’s Alternative Investment Market aimed at supporting a push into the US market.
“This is a significant step in the execution of our US growth strategy,” Gary Shaw, Nektan executive chairman, said.
“The joint venture also provides Nektan an entry into the key US market without reliance on state-by-state interactive gaming regulation, which remains a longer term opportunity for the group,” he added.
Nektan, which was formed in 2011, spent a number of years developing its products and launched its white-label casino platform earlier this year.
The firm now has content live on William Hill and Go Win Casino while further deals are in place with the likes of Mr Green, Leo Vegas, Garbo and London free newspaper City A.M.
