NET ENTERTAINMENT (NetEnt) has signed a license deal with Microgame, Italy’s largest remote gaming service provider, for the delivery of NetEnt’s CasinoModule gaming platform.
NetEnt will be the strategic casino provider of choice to Microgame, giving it access to the regulated Italian gaming market.
Founded in 1996, Microgame is Italy’s largest independent remote gaming service provider, with more than 1.3 million game accounts and market share in poker and sports betting of 25% and 28% respectively. Microgame’s 2008 gross gaming revenues exceeded 85m (£76m).
Microgame is a gaming service provider authorized by the Autonomous Administration of State Monopolies (AAMS).
Net Entertainment chief executive Johan Ãhman said: “Gambling is huge in Italy and is expected to generate a gross gaming yield exceeding 17bn in 2009, making it the country’s third largest industry. In light of this, it is obviously extra encouraging that one of the dominant incumbents selects Net Entertainment as their strategic casino partner thereby giving us a substantial footprint in a totally new market.”
As reported on EGRmagazine.com, private equity firm Monitor Clipper Partners (MCP) took a majority share in Microgame from the Cambria investment fund.
