NetBet gets Romania stay as SBTech secures licence
Supplier granted licence by Romanian authorities ahead of NetBet's 30 June regulatory deadline

Netbet can continue with its SBTech-powered sportsbook in Romania after the provider was granted a licence by Romanian authorities just days before the operator’s regulatory deadline.
As part of receiving its interim permit last year, NetBet, like all operators, was given one year to ensure its suppliers were licensed by Romania’s National Gambling Office (ONJN).
NetBet received its interim permit on 1 July 2015 so had SBTech not received its licence on or before the 30 June deadline, the operator would have been required to pull out until able to meet the regulator’s requirements.
This week, the ONJN awarded the sports betting supplier a B2B Class 2 Software Provider licence, meaning NetBet can now apply for its own full licence.
“Increasing the number of regulated markets in which we operate is a key part of the SBTech strategy and I am delighted that we are entering the Romanian market, having met the high standards set by the ONJN,” Richard Carter, CEO of SBTech, said.
“We look forward to delivering our award-winning sports betting solutions to existing and future operators in the regulated Romanian market,” he added.
