NETPLAY TV, the interactive gaming company, has signed a new two year, six-day-a-week TV broadcast deal with STV Group, the biggest commercial broadcaster in Scotland.
STV reaches more than four million viewers a month. The Monday to Saturday broadcasts of NetPlay’s branded TV show ChallengeJackpot.com, will begin tomorrow, and will be supported by TV, online, cinema and press advertising.
ChallengeJackpot.com, which is already also broadcast live on the Virgin 1 and Bravo 2 channels seven nights a week, allows viewers to placing cash bets on a live roulette wheel. The deal follows a trial with STV during the fourth quarter of 2009.
Netplay chief executive Martin Higginson said: “As a result [of the deal] we will be able to offer a much improved service offering, a wider range of games, and jackpots. Furthermore by adding more broadcast channels to this service we are able to improve the quality of the TV show, further differentiating ourselves as the leading interactive TV gaming company.”
In September 2009, NetPlay TV also signed a landmark five-year broadcast deal with Channel Five. Gross bets and deposits of this service grew 36% in the fourth quarter of 2009 compared to the previous quarter, the company said, with the growth continuing in 2010.
The company, which is regulated by the Alderney Gambling Commission, now has deals with Channel Five, STV, Virgin Media Television, Sky and FreeSat.
Referring to a decision by British media regulatorOfcom is to allow TVgambling programmes to air between midnight and 6am from June last year, STV Ventures managing director David Archer said: “The OFCOM ruling in June 2009 allowed us to explore new revenue generating options. We moved quickly to take advantage of this in September 2009 by launching an exciting new interactive TV casino product on STV in conjunction with Netplay TV.”
As reported on EGRmagazine.com yesterday, NetPlay TV is to relocate its head office, finance, billing and marketing team to London, from Lancaster, and finance director Nichola Halverson has resigned after nine years in the role.
