
New Jersey concludes 2021 with 29.1% December revenue uptick
Garden State sees 11.1% decline in sports wagering revenue during final month of 2021 as year-to-date revenue jumps 64.5% YOY

New Jersey signed off 2021 with a 29.1% year-on-year (YOY) revenue upsurge in December, according to the latest figures released by the New Jersey Department of Gaming Enforcement (NJDGE).
Total gaming revenue for the concluding month of 2021 grew to $404m, up more than $91m from the $313m generated by Garden State gambling operators in December 2020.
In contrast, sports wagering revenue fell by 11.1% YOY in December to $59m, less than half of the revenue generated in the preceding month of November, when revenue rose 127% YOY to $114.8m.
Casino gaming win jumped 44% YOY during December to $211.8m, while Garden State internet gaming win rose by 34% YOY in December to $133.2m.
On a year-to-date basis, total gaming revenue in New Jersey rose 64.5% to $4.7bn, punctuated by a 104.7% YOY increase in sports wagering revenue to $815.7m and a 41% YOY jump in internet gaming win to $1.3bn in 2021.
New Jersey authorities collected $42.2m in taxes from gambling operators during December. This total included $20m made up of the state’s 15% internet gross revenue tax and $7.1m of taxes generated from the Garden State’s 13% internet sports tax.
At a year-to-date level, New Jersey took $485.6m in total taxes in 2021, made up of the 15% internet gross revenue tax which amounted to $205m and $96.1m in internet sports tax (levied at 13%).
