Oddschecker appoints new MD as Maggs stands down
Sky Bet finance manager Toby Bentall placed in charge of odds comparison site after replacing outgoing MD Derren Maggs

Price comparison site and leading affiliate Oddschecker has appointed former Sky Bet finance manager Toby Bentall as its new managing director after incumbent Derren Maggs (pictured) decided to stand down.
Bentall, who started his new role last month, joins Sky-owned Oddschecker after five-and-a-half years with Sky Betting and Gaming. He previously spent four years with Big Four accountancy firm PricewaterhouseCoopers.
According to Bentall, Maggs left Oddschecker in order to seek “a new challenge” following four-and-a-half years at the helm, although he is thought likely to stay within the industry.
Bentall is a self-confessed sports and betting enthusiast which is something he believes, in tandem with his Sky Bet experience, holds him in good stead to move the business forward.
“My time at Sky was predominantly at Sky Bet and I’m a very keen Spurs fan, I play lots of sports, I golf, I tennis, and betting has been part of my life since I was 18,” Bentall told eGaming Review.
“Even before my time at Oddschecker, I had accounts with almost every bookmaker and Oddschecker was absolutely a site I used and loved and could see the value in, which makes the job much easier in terms of selling it to others,” he added.
Bentall has been tasked with implementing plans laid down by Maggs before his departure whilst also growing its recently launched Insight business which provides operators with data stripped from activity on the Oddschecker site.
“It’s been taken up by quite a few of our key operators across the site,” he said. “The reaction has been really strong, people are very interested in where they are in the market and in a large cross-section of their business they can see how they are performing and how individual offers are performing and we expect it to be something we’ll grow and roll out to more operators.”
