OPAP offers redundancy to 75% of workforce
Voluntary redundancy package offered to more than 600 staff as part of wider restructuring efforts
OPAP has confirmed that it has launched a voluntary redundancy scheme for more than 600 members of its staff “ around 75% of its entire workforce “ as it looks to continue with its restructuring efforts.
A spokesperson for the Greek monopoly confirmed the redundancy programme to eGaming Review this afternoon, adding that the business needed to shed “some fat” in order to make it more efficient moving forward.
The redundancy scheme is set to run until 15 July and is mainly focused on staffers within the firm’s retail network, with OPAP looking to a more digital future having recently launched its first online product; a sportsbook developed by international gaming supplier GTECH.
The redundancy round is OPAP’s second in as months after in May it confirmed it had made around 140 roles at the company redundant following the expiration of a collective labour agreement.
At the time, CEO Kamil Ziegler said the restructure was designed to increase operational and management efficiencies within the business, with the firm’s workforce having shrunk to 842 as a result.
