Paddy Power Betfair launches innovation competition to find responsible gambling tech
Operator has launched a start-up accelerator in Romania in search of new innovation in social responsibility

Paddy Power Betfair (PPB) has launched a start-up accelerator in Romania to help it find new and innovative responsible gambling technologies.
The operator is looking for products already in development and will offer solutions for customer verification, data collection and retail tools.
The programme, dubbed Alpha Hub, will see start-ups pitch their products in November. Successful applicants will then go on to receive mentoring and present their solution in a final presentation in December.
The winning start-up will present its product at PPB HQ in Dublin and receive funding to further develop its product in partnership with the operator.
Rob Smith, head of Alpha Hub, said: “The Responsible Gambling Concept is one of our key priorities at Paddy Power Betfair, and this initiative will help us find new ways to identify and protect customers at risk.
“Alpha Hub is an excellent opportunity for Paddy Power Betfair to get closer to the tech startup ecosystem, and we’re looking to partner with startups that can help us solve real business challenges,” Smith added.
PPB has moved much of its operations out to Romania in the last year. The office in Cluj was expanded in December 2017 to accommodate 250 members of staff.
