Head of B2B services Cian Murphy says pipeline is "healthiest it's ever been" after deal with RETAbet
Paddy Power has expanded its B2B arm into Spain following a deal to provide local sports betting brand RETAbet with live pricing services.
The Bilbao-based RETA Group operates 1,700 retail sportsbook outlets in Spain and launched its first online product RETAbet.es in June 2015.
Paddy Power will provide the firm with in-running event creation, pricing and settlement services across its online and retail products.
The news follows recent extensions of existing partnerships with Paddy Power by PMU in France and BCLC in Canada and the ongoing relationship with Niké in Slovakia.
The Irish operator, currently in talks over a game-changing merger with Betfair, has been offering B2B sportsbook services such as event creation and management, pricing and risk management since 2010.
Paddy Power’s head of B2B services Cian Murphy said the deal with RETA represented a big win for the operator, which is focused on growing its B2B division.
“RETA is one of the largest sportsbook operators in Spain, probably the largest retail player in the country,” he told eGaming Review. “It has made fantastic strides to get to a scale position in a very competitive market and it is very well placed for future growth.
“Our B2B pipeline is the healthiest it’s ever been. We have made some investments over the last few years which are starting to pay off,” Murphy added.
“The first evidence of this investment paying off is this deal with RETA, but there is a very healthy pipeline sitting behind that deal, and for the first time that pipeline is truly global.”
RETA’s group CEO Xabier Rodriguez-Maribona said its agreement with Paddy Power was the next step for its fast growing online product.
“RETA and its regional partners are the multi-channel reference of the Spanish market and we are constantly willing to improve our offer to attract new clients and improve the return for our shareholders and partners,” he said.
