Paddy Power launches talking Queen Euro 2012 app
Free to download augmented reality app allows users to 'blipp' £10 note showing her Majesty The Queen sharing her views on Euro 2012 news.

Not content with building a 108ft statue of new England football manager Roy Hodgson on the edge of the white cliffs of Dover in Kent ahead of Monday’s big game with France, Paddy Power has today brought her Majesty The Queen to life on any £10 note via an augmented reality application.
The free to download app, designed by Blippar, opens up in camera mode on iPhone or Android and becomes a single, “magic lens” through which the Queen will share her views with the bookmaker on England’s chances, Wayne Rooney’s hair transplant, the “cheating” French, the Germans’ penalty tactics, and any other burning issues during the tournament.
The app opens up with an image of the Queen, complete with English flag facepaint, blowing a vuvuzela trumpet used during the last football World Cup and exclaiming the words: “I’m so glad that bloody Jubilee is over, now let’s get the real party started. Come on England!”
The app, despite being used on British currency is this case, can be used over newspapers, magazines and advertising instantaneously.
After downloading the free Blippar app customers will be able to ‘blipp’ any £10 pound note in circulation from today by opening the app and holding their phone over a note. According to Blippar the content will be randomised and refreshed daily during the three-week tournament “ so customers will see something new each time they blipp. The campaign will be supported with social media activity and press advertising.
This is the first time Paddy Power has worked with Blippar. A spokesperson for Paddy Power said: “I’m sure the Queen like everyone else has views on football, but as we’re unlikely to hear them we thought we’d use a bit of creative licence. It might put us at risk of getting thrown in the Tower of London but as we know she likes a flutter we’re sure Her Majesty will see the funny side.”
Since it launched last year Blippar has partnered with brands including Nike, Sony, Heinz and Guinness to bring their products and advertising to life.
