Paddy Power launches iPhone app
Paddy Power has become the third operator to launch an iPhone betting app.

Paddy Power has launched a new iPhone app with Apple’s iTunes store, becoming the third operator to have a real-money gambling app available for download from the US consumer giant’s app store.
The Mobenga-powered app is a free version of the iPhone-optimised Paddy Power web app which launched in June, and allows iPhone customers in the UK and Ireland to manage their entire Paddy Power online account. Betfair and Tabcorp in May became the first operators to have gambling apps accepted by Apple for download from its iTunes store.
Paddy Power product manager James Grimes said: “The iPhone since it was introduced now accounts for over 50% of sports betting on the Paddy Power mobile channel.
“With the football season about to kick off again, this is an excellent opportunity for our customers to get involved in mobile betting and we are looking forward to more clients becoming interested in mobile betting in the future.
“We are developing further technology for android and other emerging mobile handset devices so that all of our mobile customers can experience our site and navigate easily from their handsets. We will continue to take advantage of new and emerging technology to deliver the best betting experience for our customers,” he added.
eGaming Review reported back in May that Paddy Power was considering submitting an application to Apple iTunes store. Head of online sportsbook Darren Lovern told eGR: “We’re definitely thinking about it, ideally before the World Cup. There can be problems getting the application through [Apple]”. eGaming Review also revealed that major operators, including Ladbrokes and Bwin, were also considering submissions to Apple.
