Paddy Power picks Mobenga for new mobile product

PADDY POWER HAS chosen Sweden's Mobenga to supply it with a new mobile sportsbook.

Paddy Power Mobile offers a live betting section designed to provide automated updates for the majority of televised sporting events, as well as simple interface links to popular betting events directly from the main menu.

The application has been built in a modular format to allow for expansion with new modules for additional features.

Paddy Power mobile services manager Ciarán McGeehan said:" We are seeing more PC customers using our mobile application or mobile website due to the convenience offered by those services. We continually strive to extend and improve our mobile services so that anything a customer needs is just a finger tap away."

In other recent mobile gaming news, Betfair hired Charlie Palmer, founder of mobile business Mfuse, as its new head of mobile.

Betfair, which beat shortlisted Paddy Power to become UK Sports Betting Operator of the Year 2009 at the EGR Awards this week, is one of the few operators to have developed its mobile offering in-house. It was beaten to the UK Mobile Operator of the Year Award by Probability, but received special commendation from the judges.
