Paddys ad banned by ASA
Operator used 24-year-old footballer to advertise money-back offer.

Paddy Power has seen another of its advertisements banned by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA).
The October ad offering customers their money back if Liverpool footballer Luis Suarez scored against Manchester United received complaints on the grounds that Suarez was under the age of 25.
The defence from the Irish operator surrounded the fact that Suarez was merely the subject of the featured bet, but the ASA ruling explained: “Because he was pictured individually and was the focus of the ad, he was likely to be seen by consumers to be playing a significant role.”
This is the second time in four months that Paddy Power has fallen foul of ASA, with television and radio ads banned in September after it was ruled that the small print contradicted the main claims in the adverts.
Following the ban, the offending advert may not appear again in its current form.
