Partypoker secures Italian gaming licence
GVC-owned brand will offer real money online poker to Italian players from April 2020

Partypoker has secured a gaming licence to operate in the Italian poker market.
The licence, which permits the GVC-owned brand to offer real-money online poker games to Italian players, will be effective from 1 April 2020.
The licence accreditation will also see some of partypoker’s global tournament titles brought to the Italian market from April following a four-year absence from the country.
Partypoker MD Tom Waters said: “Despite recent changes that restrict marketing in Italy, the poker market there remains an exciting opportunity for partypoker.
“We will be looking to improve and expand on our product and offering over 2020 and bring a different option for the Italian poker market,” he added.
Partypoker relaunched its core mobile app at the end of 2019 with a renewed focus on gamification to try and encourage more play-on-the-go.
Online poker traffic has surged in the country since Italy was forced into coronavirus lockdown on 9 March as sports-starved bettors turn to gaming to pass the time.
