Parx plots betting expansion into Colorado and Indiana
Operator vows not to rush into launching mobile betting in new states until product is finalized

Parx Casino is planning to release its mobile sportsbook in Colorado and Indiana as it expands outside of its home state of Pennsylvania.
Parx SVP for interactive gaming and sports Matt Cullen told EGR North America the operator had been looking at expansion opportunities for some time, particularly US states with mobile and online betting legislation.
“We will be launching very soon in Michigan, [and] we’ll be launching in Indiana and Colorado,” Cullen said.

“We’re looking at other markets to get ourselves into as well, so our aspirations are well beyond Pennsylvania and New Jersey and the mid-Atlantic region of the US,” he added.
Cullen insisted Parx was not willing to rush into states and will instead wait until its in-house-developed sportsbook front-end is localized for the market before launching.
The back-end is provided by Swedish supplier Kambi, while the operator has a small team of in-house traders and developers to manage the customer-facing side of the sportsbook product.
“We’re not going to race to get live just to stand up a product, whether it be an app or site, just for the sake of being able to say that we’re live in a particular state,” Cullen said.
The firm has not publicly announced its market-access partners in either Colorado or Indiana but has said it signed a deal with Gun Lake Casino to roll out betting and igaming in Michigan.
“[We’ve] been very fortunate and very creative to be able to craft the deals that we have [and] we weren’t the first in the door, which I think has been helpful because we haven’t had to write massive checks to be able to get access,” Cullen added.
Parx will likely hire locally for a handful of marketing positions.
In May, Parx was the fifth-highest earning sportsbook operator in Pennsylvania with revenue of $278,850.
It also came in fifth for igaming during the month, reaping $1.4m in revenue. Parx also operates online in New Jersey.
