Sky Betting & Gaming hires former Hills director for strategy role
David Hopkins is responsible for the alignment of key strategic programmes across the SB&G business
Sky Betting & Gaming has hired William Hill’s David Hopkins as its head of programmes.
Hopkins has been in the position since mid-October and is responsible for the alignment of strategic programmes across the business.
He previously worked in a number of roles at William Hill, including programme manager and most recently director of gaming product development.
Hopkins said the unique set-up of SB&G presented some challenges and opportunities for his new role.
Superbet hires James Curwen to lead online gaming division
Superbet has hired ex-William Hill gaming exec James Curwen as its new chief gaming officer, EGR Intel has learned, joining a raft of former Hills colleagues on the operator’s senior online team.
Curwen had been working for Superbet on a consultancy basis for the last few months and in his new role will oversee all gaming operations within the group.
He joins a growing list of former William Hill colleagues at Superbet, which now includes director of ecommerce Jamie Hart, Gibraltar MD Stuart Weston, CTO Finbarr Joy and chief scientific officer Peter Morgan.
“He [CEO Sacha Dragic] has put together a great team, most of which I’ve obviously worked with before, and I’ve got a lot of trust in the people he’s brought in,” Curwen told EGR Intel.
Playtech expands Gibraltar presence with new office
Playtech has expanded its presence in Gibraltar with a new World Trade Center office that unifies a number of departments previously spread across different offices in Europe.
COO for the supplier, Shimon Akad, told local news channel GBC a host of new staff had been hired to accommodate the growing business.
Akad said: “There’s a large opportunity here because there is a lot of talent in Gibraltar, being in the industry for so many years, for us to recruit internally.”
The new office accommodates 150 staff members, with many of the new employees recruited locally.
Catena Media appoints new CFO
Catena Media has appointed Pia-Lena Olofsson as its new chief financial officer (CFO) following Claes Wenthzel’s resignation for personal reasons.
Olofsson will assume the CFO position in March 2018, following the publication of the firm’s interim report.
Olofsson, who holds a Master of Business Administration from Gothenburg University, is currently employed in the same role at Catena Media subsidiary Catena Operations.
She was also CFO and head of international relations at digital bank Collector AB.
