Boylesports gets Gibraltar go-ahead as CMO departs
Irish operator to open online hub on the Rock in a move which has resulted in the exit of CMO James Arnold
Boylesports chief marketing officer James Arnold has decided to leave the firm after plans to move its remote operational hub to Gibraltar were given the go-ahead.
The Irish operator is said to have received confirmation of the move and has already taken out an option on premises which will be used to house approximately 20 staff “very quickly”, according to a source close to the firm.
As part of the move, around 10 roles in Ireland and five in UK will be relocated to Gibraltar with affected staff notified of the switch and offered the option of relocating.
Boylesports’ chief marketing officer Arnold decided against a move and will leave the firm after having helped the operator establish its London office following his arrival from Sportingbet in May 2013.
Betclic to shutdown Gibraltar-based operations
Betclic Everest Group will close its Gibraltar office over the coming months and transfer operations to its Malta base.
The Paris-headquartered operator will transfer all trading and financial roles to Malta in an effort to centralise its operations in what the operator described as an “ever competitive” online gambling market.
Although unconfirmed, eGR understands approximately 50 roles have been affected by the decision with the firm pledging to redeploy those willing to relocate while also assisting those unwilling to move find alternative employment in Gibraltar.
The decision to relocate was taken following a five-month consultation and will see the Malta office grow to around 300 people across its customer support, trading, IT and corporate departments. Following the move, Betclic will be based out of three locations – Paris, Malta and London.
