PKR COO Leon Walters departs
Online poker operator will not replace outgoing founder director, who leaves the firm after more than a decade
PKR co-founder and chief operating officer Leon Walters has left the firm after more than a decade at the poker operator, eGaming Review can reveal.
A spokesperson for PKR this morning confirmed Walters’ departure and said his responsibilities would be shared among the firm, with chief technology officer Jeremy Longley set to take on “a number of exciting projects”.
“Leon played an integral role in developing the award-winning desktop and mobile software for which PKR has become known, and we wish him the best of luck for the future,” the spokesperson added.
Walters, who joined PKR in December 2004, told eGR he had enjoyed his decade at the firm but felt it was his “time to go”.
The former executive producer and studio manager at Argonaut Games said he was looking for new opportunities in the gaming and gambling sectors, but would take his time to find the right role.
In October PKR launched PKR 3.0, a major overhaul of its in-house poker platform, in a bid to improve the speed of gameplay and streamline the interface as it looks to pull in more high-volume players.
The upgrade came just weeks after PKR withdrawn from Italy’s online poker market, becoming the most high-profile victim of the country’s declining poker sector.
