PointsBet shifts app code for increased page speed and streamlined UI
Latest release also incorporates quick parlay builder combining up to 12 legs into one page

PointsBet has shifted its mobile app technology onto a single codebase to increase page speed and streamline UI.
The app has been moved on to the native iOS and React/Node platforms to reduce latency and streamline the UI for easier access to the betslip function.
“The whole project was to move away from using three separate pages,” VP customer and insights Ron Shell told EGR.
“You had a betslip, where users were actually placing a bet in real time, then you had your ending bet on a separate page and you had a settled bet,” Shell said.
The updated tech is written in native iOS and React to better comply with Apple guidelines and to ensure the same app can operate in multiple states.
“Instead of having to download a separate app in the App Store, it’s just the one PointsBet app and that means when you log in say in Indiana, which we plan to launch very soon, it’s the exact same app as people logging in in New Jersey, you just get served a slightly different user experience that’s customized to local terms and conditions and responsible gambling requirements,” Shell said.
In future releases, developers can update specific parts of the code without having to rewrite major sections.
As part of the release, PointsBet unveiled a “first-of-its-kind” quick parlay builder which allows bettors to add up to 12 legs, without having to open separate pages on the app.
“That page was just released and came as part of this whole new app which we’re really excited about,” Shell said.
“No other competitor has a quick parlay builder like this in the US.”
PointsBet relocated its tech functions to Denver, Colorado, last year as it sought to attract west coast tech talent.
It has grown the local team to around 40, with an ambition to hire up to 200 staff.
