PokerStars Casino bolsters Romania presence with CFR Cluj deal
Flutter-owned gaming brand partners with Romanian football’s reigning champions as an official partner

PokerStars Casino has put pen to paper on a deal to become an official partner of Romanian top-flight football club CFR Cluj.
As part of the tie-up, PokerStars Casino will be afforded branding space on both the side’s shirts and training kit, along with in-stadium branding.
PokerStars Casino will replace Betfair as an official partner of the current Romanian champions as the parent company of both brands, Flutter, realigns its marketing stance.
The partnership follows on from PokerStars Casino’s first-ever marketing campaign in the regulated market of Romania.
The campaign, Epic Downtime, which was launched in October, features an actor playing on PokerStars Casino during breaks from intense filming.
PokerStars Casino said: “Providing entertainment for the community is at the heart of everything PokerStars Casino does, and the new Epic Downtime ad campaign reflects that.”
Alfonso Cardalda, PokerStars Casino marketing director, said: “PokerStars Casino is delighted to become the official partner of CFR Cluj.
“The team’s performance in recent years supports and matches our drive and determination, so we are excited to build the PokerStars Casino presence in Romania and show our ambitions in the market,” he added.
Cristian Balaj, CFR Cluj president, commented: “We are happy to work with the new PokerStars Casino team.
“The association of CFR Cluj with an internationally renowned brand that wants to be the best in its industry, underlines the fact that we have common goals,” he concluded.
The battle for market share among poker-led brands in Romania became that bit more competitive in November with PokerStars’ leading rival, GGPoker, launching in the Eastern European market.
GGPoker is using former PokerStars Team Pro Daniel Negreanu, who is of Romanian heritage and now a GGPoker ambassador, in its marketing.
