PokerStars enlists Jumio to bolster payment security
Jumio to supply world's largest poker site with integrated ID document verification technology
PokerStars has signed up online and mobile payments management company Jumio to integrate its Netverify technology across its global network of sites.
Netverify is already operational on PokerStars Italian site with a worldwide rollout planned for the coming months.
The deal comes after Jumio was awarded a Casino Service Industry Enterprise licence by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE).
PokerStars has yet to obtain a licence by the DGE despite a number of operators learning their fate last week, however a company spokesperson said its application was still under review and PokerStars remained committed to completing the process.
PokerStars introduced further player account security measures in July this year, adding an SMS verification feature that players could opt in to for free via the gaming client. Players are also notified via SMS if account irregularities are identified.
Bjorn Evers, director at Jumio, said the validation service would help PokerStars manage the costs and logistics associated with manually verifying customer IDs.
Jumio’s real-time ID document verification technology allows users to quickly verify their identity by either uploading documents or presenting them to a webcam for authentication.
“This innovative new feature will allow us to provide better and faster service to our customers, while maintaining very high security standards,” Richard Bregazzi, senior verifications manager at PokerStars, said.
The firm’s most recent addition to its offering includes facial recognition technology, designed to improve Netverify’s anti-fraud capabilities and has recently signed deals with XP Capital and Mr Green.
